Subsurface the game (beta) is released!

Hi there,
We've been talking here about Subsurface the game, developed with the brand new 3DVIA Virtools 5.0 by our partner Little Chicken.
Good news! Since yesterday evening, corresponding with the official release of the 3DVIA Player 5.0, powered by Virtools technology, I'm happy to invite you to play the game here: http://subsurface.3dvia.com/play/
The installation of the new 3DVIA Player is obviously required to experience the game.
Good luck, and enjoy!
Virgile
PS: more to come, this game will be available in source for download in the next few weeks, together with tutorials explaining how it's been made. Stay tuned!

Microsoft unveils a new 3D camera device for the Xbox 360
Hi there!
Those who are at the Electronic Entertainment Expo will obviously have heard of it, but we're seeing, a few years after the Wii, another VR device turning into a consumer device, thanks to this 3D camera from Microsoft. 3D Cameras are actually nothing new, but seeing them coming onto a major gaming console is very interesting, and will allow totally new types of interaction. In short, for those who are not familiar with 3D cameras, they are among others able to capture the depth information between the user and the screen with no device at all, but your hands and your body. A simple example: you shoot at a ball coming towards you and you see it going back in, something a bit more sophisticated could be dancing within a group (virtually being on stage). In terms of user interfaces, it also allows amazing things (browse, select, rotate objects etc.). Needless to say: this will be a true revolution in gaming, but also way beyond gaming.

Back from GDC 2009
Hello!
Actually it's been a while since I've been back from the GDC in San Francisco (almost a month), but I didn't get a chance to talk about it until now.
Basically we were presenting a lot of things on our booth. A few of our partners came to show their games, share the experience on how they work with Virtools, whether for online or console games development. I was able to only capture 1 session, but I think you will like it. Little Chicken talking about their use of the new Virtools 5.0. Check it out!

3DVIA Live at GDC
Hello!
As you probably saw in the last week, 3DVIA announced the release of Virtools 5 at the Game Developer Conference, as well as the support for Xbox 360 for Virtools. This comes in addition to the successful support for the Wii (Wii retail or WiiWare), and obviously the PC and Mac, both online and offline.
Virtools 5.0 boosts several great features, including the support for blend shapes and a new scripting language called LUA, but also a ton of usability enhancement. One interesting thing is that Virtools will also come with new art resources as well as a full game in source for anybody to understand how a game can be made with Virtools.
If you have some time to spare in front of your computer, you may may virtually attend the GDC online through a live stream on our booth!
Tomorrow, the webcam will be on between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm, time of the end of the show.
